The Gift of a Dog

So Jenny has gotten me involved with a little dog named Benji who is languishing in the Gallia Humane Shelter waiting for a kind soul to visit PetFinder, and out of the millions of homeless animals on the site, find and fall in love with him, just enough to help him find his way to a forever home.
Being a person who likes - and trusts - dogs more than she does most people, I of course, want desperately to find someone who will love this little guy, Benji, and care for him for the rest of his life. Why? Because dogs are the best at giving agape love - perfect, unconditional love - so many of them are abandoned, abused, and neglected and yet, a dog will still try again to turn his face looking for a kind touch, a caring voice. They ask nothing but a warm place to sleep, some kibbles to eat, a walk now and then, and someone to be loyal too. How many of us could be content with just a place to stay, things to eat, and someone to care for us? Sounds simple, doesn't it? But many people would wreck it up with expectations, disappointments, anger, thinking something better is just around the corner, or be so consumed with "myself" and "my life." If we'd only stop long enough, think things through enough, we'd see that life can be simple and oh so lovely - when seen through the eyes of a well-loved dog.
